Terms of use
A working pilot for adults. The rules are short and the most important one is about not sharing other people's images. Read that part.
Adults only
You must be at least 18 to use Candor. You confirm this at signup and verify your identity by email; SMS verification is also required when Candor's SMS provider is configured. Accounts believed to belong to minors are suspended and reviewed.
What Candor is
A private service for requesting constructive feedback on photos you choose to share. It is not a public feed, not a ranking or hot-or-not service, not a dating app, and there is no private messaging. Feedback you receive is private to you.
Your handle is not your name
Your public display handle must not be your legal name. Candor is designed so your real identity is never shown to other users.
The rule that matters — do not share anyone's image
You may not screenshot, copy, record, or share any image you view on Candor, anywhere, ever. Every image you view is watermarked and traceable to your verified identity (see the Privacy notice). This is a binding term, not a warning.
What happens if you break it
If you share another member's image, then after human review your account can be permanently banned. Each image you view carries a code tied to the account it was delivered to; if a leaked copy is found, that code can trace it back to that account. A trace match identifies an account — it is not by itself proof that a particular person intentionally leaked the image — so every case is reviewed by a person and you can respond and appeal. Sharing intimate imagery of someone without their consent can be a criminal offence (for example, Netherlands Art. 139h Sr), but not every image share is a crime, and we classify each case rather than assume the worst.
Planned enforcement — NOT active in this pilot
The full product is planned to add stronger enforcement: a fixed contractual-compensation amount (currently proposed at €5,000) payable to an affected member after a confirmed intentional leak, together with limited, purpose-restricted disclosure of identifying information to that member and, where appropriate, to authorities, so they can seek removal and pursue a claim. Any such amount would be a contractual demand you can dispute — never an automatic fine, criminal penalty, or court judgment — and a court can reduce it. This enforcement mechanism is subject to legal review and is NOT in force during this pilot. It will only operate after qualified legal approval, and only against verified accounts, with human review, appeal rights, and safeguards.
This is a pilot (beta)
Candor is an early pilot for testing and feedback. Features may change, break, or be removed, and some described features are planned rather than active (see above). Do not upload a photo you would be uncomfortable sharing during an early test. Browsers cannot prevent screenshots; the pilot reduces, but cannot eliminate, the risk of a leak.
Not medical care
Candor provides a controlled space for constructive appearance and presentation feedback. It is not a diagnostic, therapeutic, or medical service, does not diagnose or treat any condition (including body dysmorphic disorder), and is not a substitute for professional mental-health care. If you are in distress, please contact a qualified professional or a local crisis service.
Free to use, supported by contributions
Candor is free to use. There is no charge, and no subscription or payment is required to use any feature. You can optionally support Candor with a voluntary contribution to help cover servers, moderation, and running costs — this is voluntary support to a company, not a tax-deductible charitable donation, and it does not change or unlock your access (supporters and non-supporters have exactly the same access). Recurring support can be cancelled any time. You must be signed in to use Candor — there is no anonymous access, which protects the people whose photos are viewed.
Moderation and appeals
Images and text are moderated before they are shown. If a decision affects you, you are told why and you can appeal to a human. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.
